Bataraza elementary schools receive radio-based instructions set from RTNMC

In its commitment to support learners from far-flung areas coping with the blended learning period amid pandemic, Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation (RTNMC) has provided Radio-Based Instructions (RBI) facility to two elementary schools in Bataraza, Palawan.

The RBI worth P97,788 was donated by RTNMC, a subsidiary of Nickel Asia Corp. (NAC), to Barangkas Elementary School (BES) and Igang-Igang Elementary School (IES).

Norilen Ferrariz, BES Teacher-In-Charge (TIC), said that RBI is a big chunk for continuing the learning process of students.

She added that based on their assessment, learners and parents are interested to catch up with the lessons on air.

"It helps a lot to our learners. Through RBI, they are capable to learn. Our learner and parents are interested to hear the lessons on air," said Ferrariz.

For Jennifer Cruz, Teacher 1 of IES, the RBI is a great aid for all academic players grappling through the challenges of a blended learning scheme from Department of Education (DepEd).

"Ito ay malaking tulong sa mga mag-aaral ng Igang-Igang Elementary School upang mas maipag-patuloy ang kanilang pag-aaral sa pamamagitan ng radyo. Ito ay malaking kagaanan sa aming mga mag-aaral, magulang at mga guro," shared Cruz.

According to Ramona Adjed, assigned Community Development Coordinator in Barangay Sarong, the school requested the project in its bid to facilitate the learning process conforming to the authority's health guidelines.

The donation was part of RTNMC's 2021 Annual Social Development and Management Program.

"Itong RBI ay nirequest ng mga guro natin sa Barangkas Elem. School at talagang mataas ang pangangailan sa RBI upang maipagpatuloy ang karunungan kahit walang face to face sa ngayon dulot ng pandemya," said Adjed.

The assistance was sourced from RTNMC's Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) under the Education sector allocated for the Local Government Units of Barangay Sarong and Barangay Igang-Igang.
