Cagdianao Mining Corporation (CMC) joined the world in celebrating Earth Day 2022 by staging various activities aimed at conserving the environment.
This year’s theme is 'INVEST IN OUR PLANET,’ which calls everyone to exert more efforts to protect the planet from the harm brought by pollution, Climate Change, and other ecological threats.
To mark the Earth Day celebration, CMC facilitated a community cleanup and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities on waste management.
Waste generation is one of the major concerns that CMC has to deal with because of its negative effects to the environment and to the community if not properly managed.
The activities were simultaneously held on April 19, 2022 and were actively participated by CMC community partners from Brgy. Valencia - Purok 1 to Purok 9 and Valencia National High School
(VNHS) students and teachers comprising a total of 463 participants.
The community-led cleanup managed to clear out the debris left by typhoon Odette in December last year.
Engr. Christian Jae R. Gascon, CMC’s OIC-resident mine manager, thanked those who participated in the celebration as he highlighted the commitment of the company in conserving Mother Earth.
“At CMC, we always strive to ensure that our operations align with the overarching goal to preserve, enhance, and nurture Mother Nature, including the communities that live in it,” said Gascon.
