The Armed Forces of the Philippines-Northern Luzon Command (AFP-NoLCom) and its partner stakeholders signed Wednesday a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the further institutionalization of the Northern Luzon Command Heroes Foundation Incorporated (NoLCom HFI).

Major Ericson C. Bulosan, acting NoLCom Public Information Officer, said the signing took place at the 28th Floor, Boardroom, NAC Tower, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
Bulosan said the event was attended by heads of companies as stakeholders such as Nickel Asia Corporation, Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Republic Cement & Building Materials, Inc., MegaCem Inc., Foster Foods, HEDCOR.
Some of the incorporators of the NoLCom HFI namely Defense Undersecretary for Defense Policy Ricardo A. David, Jr., Atty. Angelo Q. Valencia, managing partner of SED LEX TAX & Legal Advisory: and Brig. Gen. Peter C. Sunchanco (RES) Consultant, San Miguel Corporation, was also present at the event.
NoLCom HFI was established with the initiative of NolCom Chief Lt. Gen. Emmanuel B. Salamat last August 27, 2018, during the commemoration of National Heroes Day.
Salamat said the Northern Luzon Command recognizes the importance of reaching out and engaging key stakeholders to establish the foundation.
“This foundation aims to provide secure and reliable financial assistance to families of the battle casualties within Northern Luzon Area. Furthermore, it is to honor fallen heroes and institutionalize the support system for combat casualties and/or their bereaved families. The creation of this Northern Luzon Command Heroes Foundation is a product of progressing unity, patriotism, and love for country by both private sector and men in uniform,” Salamat said.
“It is such an inspiration to work with these people- our partners, stakeholders, donors, and incorporators who have great hearts in assisting the Northern Luzon Heroes Foundation. As it is said, being a soldier is more than courage. It is sacrificing for something greater than yourself,” he added.
During the activity, Salamat expressed his sincerest thanks to all those involved in the advancement of the NoLCom HFI.
“My sincerest gratitude for the commitment of our generous stakeholders the Nickel Asia Corp, Aboitiz, and incorporators in reinforcing and supplementing the AFP’s own program for both those wounded and killed in action,” he said.
Salamat also thanked the NoLCom partners for valuing the soldiers, our heroes.
“Such comfort and benefit motivates our soldiers to continue fighting for the well-being, peace, and development of our country and people. What a shining example of Corporate Social Responsibility as the aroma of patriotism in their respective ways was infused through our foundation, the NOLCOM Heroes Foundation Inc.,” Salamat said.
“Together, our success depends in our solid commitment to God in selflessly giving our service to the Filipino people. Let’s all jointly seek to build, multiply our good deeds in pursuit of the highest welfare of this nation, ang ating Bayan Pilipinas in honor and greater glory of our Almighty God. As this nation progress, our people-we will also progress,”” he added.
Atty. Ryan Jornada, Assistant Vice President of Nickel Asia Corporation and David, expressed their willingness to help and further develop the NoLCom HFI.
The two said the successful conclusion of the event signifies the strong bond of both NoLCom and all its stakeholders with its aims of helping all Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) soldiers and their family who made significant sacrifices in guarding our northern territory.
