NAC OpCos bag multiple Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Awards for 2016

This years’ National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) held in Baguio City this November, became one of the industry’s most anticipated event.

The awards given by the Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) to outstanding companies and individuals in the mining industry were regarded as extra-special this year in view of the heightened attention and scrutiny accorded to the industry these past months.

More than ever, the acknowledgement of the best practices in the industry for 2016, as well as of the best performances of individual mining employees, provided motivation, encouragement, and inspiration to the entire industry.

NAC subsidiaries excelled

At the presentation of the prestigious Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Awards for 2016 (PMIEA), during the honors night on November 18, the companies of Nickel Asia Corporation (NAC) excelled.

This year’s awards are reflected as extra-significant, especially for all the officers and employees of NAC, because the plaques engraved with the details of the recognition for a ‘job well done’ are a rock-solid validation of what this organization proudly stands for as a responsible mining company.

The PMIEA was established by Executive Order no. 399, signed by President Fidel V. Ramos on February 3, 1997, to recognize “outstanding levels of dedication, initiative and innovation in the pursuit of excellence in environmental management by exploration, mining and other related entities involved in various aspects of mineral utilization.”

To win recognition, mining companies are evaluated for their programs and projects dedicated to environmental protection, the enhancement of mining areas, the development of hosts communities, land use improvement and mine site rehabilitation and final decommissioning. In effect, the awards recognize efforts of mining industry in areas where they are most criticized by anti-mining advocates.
