TMC earns recognition in 2019 Search for Outstanding LMC for Industrial Peace

As a testament of its commitment to a harmonious labor-management relations, Taganito Mining Corporation (TMC) was shortlisted as finalist in the 2019 Search for Outstanding LMC for Industrial Peace during the 12th National Convention on Labor-Management Cooperation held at the Atrium, Limketkai Center in Cagayan de Oro City.

TMC also received a Special Award on Effective Organizational Structure which recognizes TMC for “adopting a flexible LMC structure that is responsive to the relational and business realities in the company, thus, helping greatly in developing leadership potentials and in shaping and achieving the goals toward enhanced partnership and inclusive company growth.”

In 2013, TMC's LMC was awarded as the most outstanding LMC in the same national search.

Being a finalist is a significant milestone for the Labor Management Council of TMC. It is a remarkable achievement in labor-management cooperation between Taganito Labor Union (TLU) and TMC whose partnership began in 1989.

The award is a recognition of the effective LMC mechanism for fostering not only industrial peace but also for boosting productivity and promoting a safe and healthy workplace at TMC.

For 30 years since the start of LMC at TMC, there has been no labor unrest at the company.

Despite daunting challenges, TMC achieved a record shipment volume in 2011, 2012 and in the succeeding years.

This reflects workplace cooperation at its best and harmonious relationship between TLU and TMC as the country enjoys an unprecedented period of industrial peace.

In his message to the convention participants and LMC advocates, DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III said, “As the maintenance of industrial peace is a shared responsibility, I commend your collaborative initiatives in ensuring harmonious relations at workplaces resulting to improved productivity and competitiveness of both labor and management.”

The biennial Search for Outstanding LMC for Industrial Peace is a joint endeavor of the Philippine League of Labor Management Cooperation Practitioners, Inc. (PHILAMCOP) and the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB).

One of the highlights of the convention was the election of the new set of officers of Philippine League of Labor Management Cooperation Practitioners, Inc. (PHILAMCOP). Mr. Edgardo Z. Buligan, TMC Senior HR Manager, was elected as its auditor for a 2-year term.
