VALENCIA, Cagdianao, Dinagat Islands--How we care for the vulnerable is indicative of society's health.
Following this dictum, Cagdianao Mining Corp. (CMC) has always put a premium on the health and general welfare of senior citizens and persons with disability (PWDs) through regular provision of medicines, supplements, and other essential supplies.
In the 1st week of April, CMC's Community Relations Department distributed health essential and other supplies to some 400 senior citizens and PWDs in the host Barangay of Valencia and neighboring barangays of Boa, Legaspi, and Bayanihan.
The supplies include 3 kilos of rice, 1 pack of biscuits, 1 kg Adult powedered milk.
One of the regular recipients of this project is Manolita F. Palando, 65, from Brgy. Valencia.
"As a senior citizen and a member of the vulnerable sectors in the community, CMC's quarterly provision of supplies such as food, rice, milk and other supplies is a big help for our daily sustenance. We also regularly receive medicines, plus the services we receive from the CMC clinic," Palando, the secretary of the Senior Citizens Association-Valencia, said in the dialect.
Honey Ken Linaga, 19, a PWD, is also a beneficiary of CMC's regular provision of supplements and even household essentials.
"We are really taken care of by CMC. One time I even received a blanket, on top of the medicines, supplements, milk, and other important supplies from CMC," Linaga said.
CMC's Social Development and Management Plan (SDMP) are allocated to ensure the health of our seniors and other vulnerable individuals in the community.
Aside from the provision of health and other essential supplies for vulnerable members of the community, SDMP's health components also include: Provision of covid-related supplies and PPEs - Host and Neighboring Communities, Assistance to health related concerns and emergencies - Host and Neighboring Communities and Provision of essential medicines- Host and Neighboring Communities
For this year, SDMP's health component stands at PHP 5,529,000.00.
