ASEC Caguioa visits NAC Subsidiary in Isabela

To get a glimpse of the company’s best mining practices, Environment Assistant Secretary Nonita S. Caguioa visited Dinapigue Mining Corporation (DMC) in Isabela, a subsidiary of natural resources development firm Nickel Asia Corporation (NAC).

The visit, held last March 30, 2023, included a tour that showcased the best mining, environmental, and social development practices that DMC implements. Asec. Caguioa, who handles Finance, Information Systems, and Mining Concerns for the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), particularly expressed her satisfaction at how well-represented women are across the company.

The tour, led by DMC Resident Mine Manager Edwin R. Casiano, began in the Pacific View Area – a previously mined site converted into an eco-tourism project, followed by the Mine Area 5 where the visitors witnessed the company’s operational practices firsthand. The tour ended with a stop at the agro-farm where DMC personnel grow vegetables and raise livestock. Asec. Caguioa was given a chance to pick fresh vegetables to take home as souvenirs from the tour.

Other officials who joined the tour were Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Regional Office II Environmental Management Section Head Emely Delmendo, Environmental Management Section Officer-in-Charge Maria Roasario Canave, and Engineer II Reina Frances Requieron.
