A cooperative office rises in Barangay Sandoval after Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation (RTNMC) and Coral Bay Nickel Corporation (CBNC) awarded a one-storey building to Sandoval Farmers Producers Cooperative (SANFAPCO), a primary cooperative operating in Sandoval, Bataraza.
This cooperative office, an infrastructure worth P500,000, is a joint community intervention of RTNMC and CBNC in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Barangay Sandoval under its Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) – Livelihood and Enterprise component.
Eddie L. Catague, Sandoval Barangay captain said in his opening message that they are rendering their full support to establish and promote social enterprise initiative in the local community.
“Ang full support po namin sa SANFAPCO ay lagi nang nandiyan simula pa nung una at ito nga po ang isa sa mga indikasyon, ang pagpapatayo ng coop office sa ating barangay site,” said Catague
Jose Roberto Serrato, SANFAPCO chairperson challenged his members and co-farmers to exert their full commitment and resources as the coffee trees are now on its bearing stage.
“Sa mga kasamahan ko nagtatanim ng kape, mga land owners, mas alagaan pa natin ang ating mga kape ngayon na mas namumunga na ito. Pasasaan ba’t maaani na rin natin ang ating mga pinagpawisan.” said Serrato.
SANFAPCO is engaged in coffee production and other agro-produce.
SANFAPCO was established in 2015 primarily assisted by Community Relations Department (ComRel) of RTNMC and CBNC.
