It was my maiden voyage to Palawan, and though the allure of its renowned azure waters eluded us this time, our adventure was no less captivating.

Last March 21, we embarked on a journey to Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corp. (RTNMC) in Rio Tuba, Bataraza, Palawan.

The visit unveiled a side of mining that is often overshadowed: its potential harmony with nature.

RTNMC's commitment to sustainability unfolded before us, starting with their extensive reforestation projects.

Walking through the once-barren mining sites, now vibrant with new saplings, was a testament to the power of rehabilitation and responsible stewardship.

Their approach to minimizing environmental impact, through innovative strategies, not only impressed us but also redefined our understanding of the industry.

The experience was a revelation, transforming our perception of mining from a purely extractive process to one that can coexist with environmental preservation.

As we prepare to leave the nurturing halls of Silliman University, I carry forward this newfound appreciation, grateful for the lessons and insights gained from this enlightening excursion.
