DMC-ERT Places 2nd in Regional Fire Olympics

The Dinapigue Mining Corporation Emergency Rescue Team (ERT) won 1st Runner-up for the Industrial category at the Regional Fire Olympics held at the Ilagan City Sports Complex on November 13, 2019.

“It was an unexpected achievement for the ERT because we’ve only been recently established and we were extremely nervous as we saw how prepared and experienced the other participants were,” said Devotee Lai Daiwey, Safety Supervisor.

The DMC ERT was only founded on June 2019 but despite being relatively new, through constant body conditioning and firefighting drills which honed their ropemanship, precision with the nozzle, and speed, they were able to achieve a podium finish.

“Practice is hard especially given the fact that being a member of the ERT is an after work commitment. We mostly train only after work hours which is why I am proud that despite us being new entrants to this competition, the team’s commitment and hard work paid off,” said Diosdado Paraiso, Safety Manager, and member and trainer of the DMC ERT

This year’s Regional Fire Olympics is the DMC ERT’s first time participating in a firefighting competition.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) won the championship award while FCF Minerals won 2ndRunner-up.
