In a resounding commitment to sustainable development and community well-being, Taganito Mining Corp. (TMC) proudly unveiled its approved 2024 Annual Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), heralding a new chapter in its dedication to social responsibility and community engagement.
Endorsed by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Regional Office 13 on January 24, TMC's Annual SDMP boasts an estimated budget of ₱90 million, underscoring the company's unwavering commitment to allocating at least 1.5 percent of its total operating costs towards uplifting local communities.
This comprehensive program spans various facets of community development, including health, education, enterprise development, infrastructure, socio-cultural preservation, and information dissemination.
Crafted through extensive consultations and planning workshops held in August of the previous year, the SDMP embodies the collective input and priorities of stakeholders from TMC's host mining barangays and neighboring non-mining barangays.
Representatives from diverse sectors, including line agencies and religious organizations, played a pivotal role in reviewing and endorsing the proposed programs, ensuring alignment with community needs and aspirations.
Building upon its remarkable achievement of a 100-percent accomplishment rate for the 2023 SDMP, with a budget of ₱93.4 million, TMC continues to deliver tangible benefits to the community.
Scholarships, training sessions, livelihood support, and infrastructure development projects have significantly enriched the lives of residents, fostering a culture of empowerment and sustainable growth.
Infrastructure development remains a cornerstone of TMC's community initiatives, with ₱23 million allocated for vital projects such as the Marine Education Center in Barangay Urbiztondo, Claver Parish Convent, CAPSASSCO hardware store, Lapinigan access road, BISIBOS pig pen, and various community facilities.
Additionally, TMC's commitment to corporate social responsibility extends beyond its mandated SDMP, with ₱35 million mobilized for impactful projects, including medical-surgical missions, Indigenous peoples' scholarships, and socio-cultural support.
Situated in the municipality of Claver, Surigao del Norte, TMC stands as a beacon of responsible mining practices and community empowerment.
By investing in education, health, infrastructure, and socio-cultural programs, TMC continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people it serves, epitomizing the transformative power of socially responsible business practices.
