NAC-TMC Firefighters Shine, Declared As National Fire Olympics Champions

With their burning determination and fighting spirit, Nickel Asia Corporation-Taganito Mining Corporation’s (NAC-TMC) fire brigade once again emerged as overall champion in the 3rd National Fire Olympics 2017.

As part of the observance of Fire Prevention Month, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) organized the Olympics for firefighters, which was conducted last March 23-24, 2017 at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City.

As two-time champion for the industrial category, building on its first championship in 2015, NAC-TMC’s fire brigade bested representatives of mining, refinery and other commercial companies from different regions nationwide.

NAC-TMC’s fire brigade showcased their agility and expertise in the following categories: Rescue and Transfer Relay, Combination of Busted Hose and Up-the Ladder, and Fire Extinguishment.

TMC’s fire brigade is composed of 15 firefighters trained by their coach, Antolin Mira, Jr., who is also the training officer of TMC.

“In behalf of the TMC fire brigade team, I am very much thankful to the management for sending us to this 3rd National Fire Olympics 2017. We are very proud enough with regards to the support of the management for us. At the same time, with the help of our Almighty God, we won the competition. Our team is very much happy for the awards that we won as an overall champion,” shared Mira.

As the country also celebrates women’s month, a search for Miss National Fire Olympics 2017 was also participated by muses and lady fire fighters of the different fire brigades.

Representing NAC-TMC was Joylyn B. Glino, community organizer of the community relations department and one of the lady firefighters of NAC-TMC.

READY TO SERVE

The winning of NAC-TMC fire brigade in theNationalFireOlympics only shows that it is dependable and always ready in times of emergencies.

“Laging handang rumisponde ang ating fire brigade lalo na sa oras ng emergency, makikita naman sa gilas ng ating mga bumbero,” said Mira.

NAC-TMC’s fire fighters respond to the fire emergencies within their communities and other fortuitous circumstances.

“It is not just winning the competition, but most importantly it is the kind of service that it brings to the communities where it operates, in any call of emergency. It is definitely saving lives and properties,” said Engr. Rennan Y. Cuadrillero, NAC-TMC Safety Section head.

NAC-TMC’s fire brigade extends it assistance to areas as far as the municipality of Gigaquit where it responded to a fire incident in 2015.

The team was also the core group who led the emergency response team in Surigao City during the February 10 6.7-magnitude earthquake that hit the province.

The water truck of NAC-TMC was also deployed to provide water supply to residents after it was cut due to the damage caused by the earthquake.

The company also dispatched its site ambulance to facilitate the transport of a vehicular accident victim to a bigger hospital in Tagum City.

HALL OF FAMER IN REGIONAL FIRE OLYMPICS

NAC-TMC was proclaimed as “hall of famer” in the 3rd Regional Fire Fighting Olympics held in March last year at the Gaisano Parking Area, Surigao City. This after the company’s fire brigade bagged the championship for three consecutive years.

The NAC-TMC fire brigade topped all other teams for the Rescue and Transfer Relay, Busted Hose Replacement, and Fire Extinguishment.

The company incorporated women in the team as part of the new guidelines set by BFP, so Glino of ComRel Department and Mari Grace A. Jamin of TSD, joined this year’s National Fire Fighting Olympics.
