Natural resources development company Nickel Asia Corp. (NAC) is set to hold its 2nd MBZ Golf Cup Tournament at the Manila Golf and Country Club to celebrate long-standing partnerships with colleagues and friends.
The MBZ Cup will feature an 18-hole course and a series of fun holes. Individual awards will be given to the overall champion and to the winners of the men and women’s division for classes A, B, and C.
To lead the tee-off are NAC President and CEO Martin Antonio Zamora and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. Executive Officer Toru Kitazaki.
“Not only are we doing this for the love of golf. We believe that just like a well-run business, golf is about precision, strategy, and patience. This tournament is a perfect opportunity for us to showcase these elements and deepen our sense of camaraderie,” said Atty. Ryan Rene Jornada, NAC Vice President for Corporate Affairs, Regulatory, and Community Relations.
Since NAC opened its first mine in Rio Tuba, Palawan, in 1969, it has grown to become the largest mining company in the Philippines and has now expanded to become a natural resources development company with interests in renewable energy.
From the onset, the Group has dedicated to maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with local and international partners, and continues to help communities within and beyond its operations.
The tournament, which began last year in celebration of the NAC Group’s 15th anniversary, is now on its second year. More than a recreational gathering, the MBZ Cup is part of the Company’s effort to express its gratitude to its partners and collaborators.
It is named after the Company’s founder, Manuel B. Zamora, who is fondly called as MBZ.
“He deserves all the honor,” said NAC President and CEO Martin Antonio Zamora, referring to his father. “The Company will not exist without him and it unites everyone to put it under his name. With his name, people know that this tournament stands for something positive and rewarding.”
“What I’m really excited about are the events after the tournament. I’m a pretty competitive person and an avid player myself, so I’d like to compare scores with my colleagues and friends, and watch people win the prizes. We really want everyone to have a good time,” he added.
