The National Nutrition Council, together with the Provincial Government of Palawan, have chosen Barangay Sandoval in Bataraza as the site for the kick off ceremony of the 44th Provincial Nutrition Month on June 29.

Nutrition Month 2018 with the theme “Ugaliing magtanim, sapat na nutrisyon aanihin” is a program carried out by the Palawan provincial government that aims to lower the Malnutrition Prevalence Rate of the province, placed at 12.4 percent rate in 2015 based on official data.
The program was participated by Bataraza Municipal Health Office, Community Volunteer Health Workers, Municipal Nutrition Action officers from various municipalities, Coral Bay Nickel Corporation (CBNC), Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation (RTNMC), Provincial Nutrition Action Office, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office Bataraza, Barangay Nutrition Scholars and community residents.
Board Member Eduardo Modesto Rodriguez, representing the provincial government, encouraged the community to help in the provincial government’s effort to solve the malnutrition problem in Palawan.
“Isang malaking hamon ang isinusulong ng Palawan
na ibaba ang malnutrition prevalence rate dito sa ating probinsya. Alam
kong kayang kaya natin ito sa pagkakaisa ng lahat. Tayong lahat laban sa
malnutrition,” Rodriguez said.
Laurence Amores, CBNC Community Relations General Supervisor urged the community and key health personnel to participate in the upcoming five-year planning for the phase 4 of Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) of CBNC and RTNMC.
“Ang dalawang kompanya po ay magsasagawa na naman ng five-year plan para sa SDMP 4 at iniimbitahan po natin ang lahat ng health personnel na makilahok sa nasabing pagpaplano. Sa lahat po ng partners, pagtulong tulongan po nating maibaba ang MPR ng Bataraza at ng Palawan,” Amores said.
Venice Teresa Guian, RTNMC SDMP Supervisor also said “In behalf po ng RTNMC at CBNC, patuloy lang po kami sa pagsuporta sa mga programang pangkalusugang dito sa Bayan ng Bataraza at sa Probinsya ng Palawan.”
The program was concluded with a tree planting activity.
