RTN sets up quarantine market in Bataraza

To address the needs of the communities and help out in their consumption requirements, Rio Tuba Nickel (RTN) in coordination with Barangay Rio Tuba has set up a “specially-arranged market ” at the RTN townsite during the government’s Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) caused by COVID-19.

Bong Dela Rosa, community relations manager of the RTNMC, said that the market day was set up as one of the initiatives of the company to address the daily consumption of townsite residents.

“Ito ay inisyatibo ng RTN management para sa kanyang mga empleyado at dependents upang matugunan ang pang araw-araw na konsumo sa townsite,” said Dela Rosa.

Dela Rosa also added that one of the main goals of the intervention is to support the livelihoods of some barangays in Bataraza town that are being affected by the ECQ.

“Ginawa natin itong market day para na rin makatulong sa ating mga partner-barangays dito sa bayan ng Bataraza na magpatuloy ang iilang traders and local producers na makabawi sa kanilang kabuhayan,” added Dela Rosa

Furthermore, the “specially-arranged market” aims to assist LGU-Rio Tuba to help avoid possible congestion in the barangay-designated public market.

Rio Tuba Barangay chairman Nelson Acob positively expressed the Barangay Government’s full support in the said activity amidst the health crisis brought by COVID-19 pandemic.

The arranged-market ran from April 17-30, 2020, and followed government measures on social or physical distancing, proper wearing of face masks, and the imposition of quarantine pass.
