Sandoval women engage in tailoring venture

As part of its commitment to empower its partner communities, Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation (RTNMC) and Coral Bay Nickel Corporation (CBNC) sponsored the training and certification of 25 women of Barangay Sandoval, Bataraza.

The Competency Training–National Certification (NC-2) on Dressmaking and Tailoring was given by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

Margie Baban, President of Sandoval Dressmaking and Tailoring Association (SANDRETASSO) said they have been long waiting for the livelihood opportunity for women of Sandoval.

Barangay Captain Eddie L. Catague, during the culminating activity of the project, thanked RTNMC and CBNC for its continuing support for their community. He also added that if the mining industry will prosper in Palawan, they will sustain the project by providing additional funds as part of Social Development & Management Program.

As of now, they are getting small scale orders from different players and users in the community.

RTNMC and CBNC is planning to assist the group by providing continuous and additional training on project management, quality management and many others to ensure the project sustainability.

SANDRESTASSO is a DOLE-registered association and was formed and assisted by RTNMC-Community Relations Office
