TMC helps level up studes’ oral communication, journalistic skills

Taganito Mining Corporation (TMC), through its Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), turned over the P1 million worth of State-of-the-Art Speech Laboratory with complete equipment to Taganito National High School on December 5, 2022.

The turnover was graced by School Principal II Marites Rule, Master Teacher I Emma Gijapon, Guidance Couselor-Designate Marites W. Laurejas, SPJ Adviser Ceasah Jane Bayeta, and SPJ learners together.

It was also witnessed by TMC personnel headed by Mine Division Manager Engr. Robert Francisco, OIC-ComRel Manager Mark Vincent Junel Felias with Community Development Coordinator for Taganito, Charnelyn Missiona-Gonzaga, IEC Coordinator Reymond Pagente, and barangay councilors Zenaida Moreno, Teofilo Escalada, and Engr. Dominador Malaga.

The state-of-the-art Speech Laboratory will be ideal for SPJ learners and other students undergoing Journalistic endeavors and other classes who wish to improve their oral communication skills.

“My salute to TMC for this gift to us, learners, under Special Program in Journalism which will really help us in our Journalism and English classes, especially in speech and oral development, radio and tv broadcasting,” Said RJ Languing, an SPJ class mayor.

Taganito National High School expresses its heartfelt gratitude to TMC for the overall success of the turnover ceremony. It is the first and only speech laboratory of its kind among public high schools in Surigao del Norte.

“Truly, we are forever grateful to Taganito Mining Corporation for their unending generosity towards the school where 1,643 students will benefit from it,” Mrs. Rule said.

Aside from the Speech Laboratory equipment, TMC has been a constant stakeholder of the school since it started its mining operation. Over the years, it has donated school supplies, printing equipment, health essentials even before the pandemic and paid for teachers under SDMP Fund. #
