Cagdianao Mining Corporation (CMC) is reinforcing its commitment to environmental stewardship by advancing the National Greening Program (NGP) within the Province of Dinagat Islands.

The mining firm has inked a tripartite Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Caraga, along with the Barangay Local Government Units of Rosita and Edera in Libjo, and Barangay Cayetano in the Municipality of Cagdianao.

The MOA outlines CMC’s ambitious plan to adopt 18 hectares for mangrove rehabilitation in Barangays Rosita, Libjo, and an additional 251 hectares of graduated NGP sites throughout the municipality.

This initiative aims to restore vital ecosystems, enhance biodiversity, and contribute to the overall health of the environment in the region.

The signing ceremony was attended by a distinguished group of guests, including Hon. Melody L. Compasivo, Municipal Mayor of Libjo, and key DENR officials such as Forester Modesto Lagumbay Jr., OIC of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), and Forester Geoffrey R. Padullon, Chief of the Technical Service Division of PENRO PDI.

Other notable attendees included Engr. Limuel M. Avila from the Cagdianao Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) and representatives from CMC management.

Engr. Glase F. Rabi, CMC Mine Operations Manager, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “Together with our stakeholders, we are taking significant strides toward a greener and more sustainable future for Dinagat Islands.” This sentiment reflects CMC’s dedication to responsible mining, ensuring that environmental protection remains at the forefront of its operations.

As the NGP continues to gain momentum, this collaborative effort between CMC and local government entities sets a strong example of how industry and community can work together to improve the environment.

With the adoption of these crucial land areas, CMC is not just investing in ecological restoration; it is also paving the way for a healthier, more sustainable future for generations to come.
