At least 700 beach forest seedlings were planted by the employees of Cagdianao Mining Corporation (CMC) along the coastal areas of Mayatoy, Barangay Boa, Dinagat Islands.
The planting of Bitaog, Narra and Agoho seedlings was part of the activity of CMC, a subsidiary of Nickel Asia Corporation (NAC), in participation to the Philippine Environment Month Kick-off Activity on June 1.
The Kick-off Activity was organized by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office XIII in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) - Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office of Surigao del Norte and Caraga Mine Environmental Management Council Inc. (CMEMCI).
CMC’s kick-off event with a theme "Only One Earth" was graced by Brgy. Boa Chairman Divine Eupena.
Eupena shared her gratitude to CMC and its team from Mine Environmental Protection and Enhancement Office (MEPEO) for the sustained support extended to Brgy. Boa, one of the most devastated areas during Typhoon Odette.
The kick-off was also the culmination program of the company's month-long celebration for the Month of the Ocean.
CMC-MEPEO gathered the residents of Brgy. Boa for an MOO jam session with a music band from Tubajon, Dinagat Islands.
The gathering aims to uplift the emotional state of the residents from the trauma brought by Typhoon Odette and brings hope to the community that CMC will always be their shoulder to rest on.
