Recognizing the vital role of teachers in guiding children, youth and adults through a life-long learning process, Taganito Mining Corporation (TMC) through its Community Relations and Development Department, distributed tokens to teachers.
Teachers from the 18 elementary and secondary schools in Claver District received the tokens in appreciation of their efforts and as one of the valued stakeholders of the company.
The tokens consist of delicacies such as cassava cake, pichi-pichi, rice cake or biko, bihon and suman made by Urbiztondo Crop Producers, a TMC-supported peoples organization.
The gift giving kicked off at the four mining barangays with six schools: Cagdianao Elementary School, Punta Naga Elementary School , Hayanggabon Elementary School, Taganito Elementary School , Taganito National High School and Urbiztondo Elementary School.
Moreover, the distribution of tokens was also extended to the schools in the 10 non-mining barangays of Claver namely: Claver National High School, Claver Central Elementary School, Cabugo Elementary School, Wangke Elementary School, Panatao Elementary School, Lapinigan Elementary School, Magallanes Elementary School, Ladgaron Elementary School, Daywan Elementary School, Sapa Elementary School, Tayawod Elementary School and Sabang Elementary School.
The activity of TMC was part of the National Teachers Day celebration.
On August 24, 2011, President Benigno Aquino signed Presidential Proclamation No. 242, s. 2011 declaring September 5 to October 5 of every year as National Teachers Month Celebration and observed October 5 as National Teachers Day.
The month-long celebration is the commemoration of all the teachers across the nation in their vital.
