NAC Employees Boost Health, Wellbeing

With the seasons changing and unpredictable weather conditions in the city, it is important that one takes good care of his health.

Prioritizing one’s health is crucial to one’s daily activities and wellbeing.

Nickel Asia Corporation (NAC) raised health awareness through its annual Health and Wellness Fair held last June 30, 2017 with the theme “Wellness Fair! Re-pattern Your Life for Wellness and Well Being. Do Something for Yourself, Feel Good and Be Well!”

It was held at the NAC Office in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City and was well-attended by its employees.

Lectures on Dyslipidemia and Hypertension were conducted as high cholesterol and high blood pressure were the top results of the employees’ diagnoses/assessment during the Annual Physical Examination (APE).

On-site Nutrition Counseling was also available to those who were interested while the yearly flu vaccine given to employees was incorporated into the said event.

The health fair program started in 2014 with simple activities like Zumba, and has now grown into an in demand yearly activity of the company.

Human Resources (HR) Supervisor Ms. Rhea Guballa said that the HR Department wants their employees to have a balanced work life while maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.

Mr. Gerardo Ignacio B. Ongkingco, Vice President for Human Resources explained that the wellness program is an initiative of the company to go beyond medical and health care, focusing on prevention rather than cure.

“The company focuses in helping employees enhance their quality of life. I guess it’s only a way of showing our employees that the company is concerned about their welfare or wellness,” Ongkingco said.

The Health Fair, he added, will also encourage employees to become advocates of wellness.

“Often, the result is a situation where you don’t have enough money to pay the bills in the hospital is not new to us, especially if you don’t have a health card. That’s why it’s very important to have a balanced and healthy lifestyle,” he added.

Employees were happy to receive freebies and bought goodies from different vendor partners — Gardenia, Quaker, New Balance and Alex and Claude.

A wellness evaluation and nutrition counseling was held by Herbalife for the health conscious. Free skin consultation and products were on site by Skin & Body Clinic and Bioessence.

TMC’s very own Liza Casiano even got the chance to model for Maybelline’s Workshop, which was a blockbuster for the ladies.

And what else could be a relaxing way to end the week than with free massages from Pau Liniment & Pau Masaje and Forever Blessed.

Ms. Rania Ziadeh, NAC employee, was one of the lucky participants of the wellness program.

“Thank you sa NAC at HR for putting up this kind of activity. Naging masaya lahat, lalo na ako, sa mga libreng konsultasyon na nabahagi sa amin, at looking forward ako sa mga susunod pang mga ganitong activities,” she said.
