Aiming to boost local economy, a P4.9 million-worth two-storey enterprise building was turned over by Taganito Mining Corporation (TMC) to the local government unit of barangay Taganito as part of its Social Development and Management Program (SDMP).
The turnover ceremony was attended by the barangay captain of Taganito, Ruben D. Parpan and his council members, TMC management represented by Resident Mine Manager Artemio E. Valeroso, Division Manager and Chief Geologist Marcial E. Encina, and community relations staff headed by their Community Relations manager, Roel T. Paniza.
The building sits on a 300 square meter lot and is comprised of six units available for leasing. Each unit has its own comfort room and roll-up front door.
It is strategically located at Purok 2 in barangay Taganito, alongside the new Taganito National High School campus and within walking distance from the public market, health center, and other establishments.
Parpan cited three advantages of the project: it will allow community members to save time and money since services will be available in the barangay; it will provide business opportunities to entrepreneurs; and it will serve as livelihood for the barangay even after the life of the mine.
“So arang gajud kagwapo ni na proyekto. Legasiya ini ng atong mina, may malasakit na mina, naghuna-huna sa komunidad, naghuna-huna sa umaabot (This is a very wonderful project. This is the legacy of our mine which cares for the community and keeps the future in mind),” shared Parpan.
“Dako gajud namo na kalipay, ang mga barangay officials nalipay, ang katawhan nalipay na narealize kini na mga proyekto na dili kung isa ra ang makinabang, kun dili hamok ang magbenepisyo (We, along with the barangay officials and community members, are very happy that this project, which will benefit many, was realized.),” Parpan added.
Valeroso on the other hand, assured the company’s continuous support to the community and looked forward to the full operation of the businesses.
