In a proactive effort to promote collaboration and transparency, Hinatuan Mining Corporation (HMC) recently convened a meeting with Barangay Captains from neighboring communities in Tagana-an.
The meeting, led by ComRel Manager Jay-r Resuera and Janeth B. Navarro, chairperson of the Representative of Host and Neighboring Communities (RHNC), aimed to provide updates on company initiatives and discuss the progress of the Social Development and Management Program (SDMP).
This gathering served as a platform for HMC to directly engage with local leaders, ensuring that community voices are heard and integrated into the company’s operational strategies. “Building strong relationships with our neighboring barangays is essential for sustainable development,” said Resuera, emphasizing the critical role of community involvement in HMC’s projects.
In a significant show of support, HMC distributed its Annual Community Development Assistance checks to 13 barangays. These funds are designed to empower local communities by financing development projects tailored to their unique needs. The beneficiary barangays included Aurora, Azucena, Banban, Cawilan, Fabio, Himamaug, Laurel, Lower Libas, Opong, Patino, Sampaguita, Union, and Upper Libas.
“This funding is crucial for us to implement programs that directly benefit our residents,” remarked one of the Barangay Captains.
The collaboration between HMC and the barangays highlights the company’s commitment to responsible mining practices, prioritizing social responsibility and community welfare.
As HMC continues its dialogue with neighboring barangays, the foundation of mutual respect and partnership strengthens, paving the way for a sustainable and prosperous future for both the corporation and the communities it serves.
